Thursday, May 12; love vs like

what is love?
what is like?
what is that thin, faded, greyish bit, almost invisible, almost imperceptible line between them?
how does one diffentiate one from the other? how do we distinguish between the two? how are they similar yet different?

what makes that fluttering feeling that overcomes your ultimate control on your individualism? why does it have so much power to make you lose strength and succumb to whatever it decides? how is it able to restrict your thoughts and minimise your mental battlefield by making you the loser to the game of emotions? what makes it the master of disguising stupidity into invloluntary works of service? what has God created to make something so great and whole that can be on one hand, the treasure in one's heart and on the other hand, the most blunt of knives that fray and tear your tendons of the heart in excruciating, slow and rigid slices?

but as a friend and i were discussing, by actually seeking and searching for such answers, the 'criteria' of what is love and like, we're putting boundaries and limits on ourselves. restricting what and how much love/like can do and how much it is able or may be able to reach and venture. like refraining it from spreading its vast wings to fly and touch that star-dusted sky, preventing its dive into the deep sapphire-sparkling lagoon that can harbour much of the unknown, it is just a mental prison we cage ourselves in, of which we regard as our comfort zone. by finding somesort of concrete guideline and standard, it makes love/like a superficial and unnatural approach when its nature is one that is free, one that is spontaneous, one that is able to, i don't know, make you happy? i guess love/like comes to you when it does, depending on little Cupid and his darn arrows, depending on the seasons (maybe the mating period *grin), and definitely also depending on Lady Luck and her sidekick, Lovely Fate.
