light, warm beams of dawn peek in from in between the midnight blue curtains drawn across the window panels. its heat mixes with the coolness of the wind, generated by the slow, oscillating fan.
at the side of the room, sits a bed that has been occupied for quite awhile. the light slowly fills the small room, with sun rays reaching over and stretching to the bed end from the window.
body curled facing her right, she feels familiar warm rhythmic breathing against the back of her neck, a heartbeat dancing steadily in tune with hers and strong arms that have found their way around her waist.
snuggling inwards to the source of warmth, she stirs and takes the time to slowly open her eyes, making a quick mental note not to move too much.
knowing in all truth and assurance that she's nested in arms that protect and soothe, she closes the minute distance behind her and gently places her left arm over his, slowly interlocking her fingers with his.
she closes her eyes with a smile intending to return to how it was moments ago, but suddenly receives a light butterfly kiss laid just at the edge of her jawbone.
